35 YEARS WAITING JUSTICE

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

35 YEARS WAITING JUSTICE

Postby EPSILON » Fri Aug 14, 2009 11:31 am

14 August 1974 1100hrs. The "heroes" of EOKA B running away to save themselves announced that Turkish army is outside the village. (Turkish army entered the village after 2 days)!!!

All citizens , using tractors, buses, private cars started to lieve for South.
About 1500 people running through the fields moved to Derynia area . It was a big suprise to see these "heroes: of EOKA B to be already in the area -controlling the trafic- instead to be in their position to defend Famagusta.
2nd day outside Derynia. Some of our heroes returned the night to the village and stole as much houses as they could-money-juleries etc.
Same day -same heroes were selling cicarettes in Derynia which of course were stolen from Famagusta tobocco store.

meantime in the village remained only few old persons (all finally freed by Turks or escaped during night time alongwith their sheeps.).

All these heroes are reminding me the other "heroes" of Polytechnio in Athens. Many of them became politicians as fighters who sent the Junta out. They just forget that polytechnio was in Nov 03 and Junta colapsed on July 74 -of course because of the Cyprus problem.

First heroes of EOKA B were from rightwing and these of polytechnio from leftwing. Both used their countries catastrophes for personal gains and benefits lieving all others like us just to look our country's history through the tv channels.

We have many other categories of "heroes" in Hellenic World- some of them are still creating the history of our countries and we are just watching. Until when?

Petcalledros if it was up to people like you then the smaller countries of the world would forever surrender their lands and culture to the bigger imperial foreigners like the Turks and British.

I am not against EOKA A' being against the British, I am against EOKA A' waning ENOSIS and destroy anything/anyone standing in their way...and then thinking of themselves as heroes?

Also many countries left the British Empire peacefully. If that would of happened than Cyprus would not have British Bases.

The vast majority of Cypriot people wanted enosis. Not just EOKA.

EOKA (A) fought for the freedom of Cypriots from the Imperialists (British/Turks). If the imperialists would allow the Cypriot people to peacefully and democratically choose the destiny of their own island, then there wouldn't be the need for EOKA.

A man against the Turks, Nazis, an Empire and the Communists. General Georgios Grivas Digenis, was the perfect hero. "Aksios tis Patridos", that is, "a worthy son of the Motherland."
Union with Greece was not achieved but without Grivas' heroic struggle there would have not been an independent Cyprus.
The Greek Cypriot heroes died for "enosis", union with the Motherland, not independence. They marched to their deaths yelling: "We were born Greeks and we will die Greeks".
Learn!!

Shah , lets just put it in another way . More than 80% of the Cypriot people wanted ENOSIS.
Wrong with hindsight but quite right at the time. Why on earth should the overwhelming majority of the Cypriot people not have the right to determine their own destiny as they saw proper at the time.
