I just cant see the Cypriots accepting this practice in Cyprus .
In the UK , as we all know , this legalized extortion takes place regularly , I have been a victim on a few occasions and I detest the reasoning for this daylight robbery.
I agree with all you said. As far as I know one of the worst outfits for clamping in London is owned by a Cypriot!
Not I !!!

Monday morning I received a call from an ex employee , an Albanian who speaks fluent Greek , for help in getting his van unclamped having failed to pay a parking ticket amounting to £185 .
The bailiffs knocked on his door and informed him that they had clamped his van for non payment of the fine and the amount now required amounts to £683.77 !!!!!
They charged him almost £500 , which included VAT , for one visit and one clamp .
I understand that if you dont pay a penalty notice and leave it then the Council authorities apply to court and the court appoints bailiffs to recover the specific amount .
This is what I call ripping people off , all these bailiffs are limited companies and play on peoples' misery to stich them up as mush as possible.
As far as the petrol companies in Cyprus , they seem to be doing everything possible to make as much out of the motorists as possible .
on the subject of car clamping, we got ripped off too yesterday.
we parked on a quiet street along with others who had done the same, no double yellow lines and no signs to state you cant park.
anyway we returned to our car around 30 mins later only to find we had been clamped, not only that the damage to the car at the front was sad to see. The damage was caused by the company who put the clamp on the car, claearly they didnt give a toss.
Everyone had been clamped, and when we checked the signs of which had been put up either end of the road!! (nowhere near for anyone to see) the glue was still wet on the backs of them, clearly stating that they were put up whilst people were away from their cars!!!
thee bbc turned up and behind the camera they couldnt believe it either!
Everyone had to pay £130 release fee, watch this space I will be getting it back!!!
Is this in Paphos ??? You mention BBC ??
