The 2nd Invasion

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby wyoming cowboy » Tue Aug 18, 2009 6:04 pm

To be perfectly honest here, Living in a society where all different races and ethnic groups reside relatively peacefully, here in the USA.Both Gc and Tc need to go a long way before the two sides can really start to come together. When i visited Cyprus last December and walking around in the cafes in Nicosia i saw no intermingling of GC with TC. big disappointment. Nothing will come out of any settlement if the two ethnic groups and their leaders do not want to have anything to do with the other.

"Are you aware of any attempts made by GC media to interview Talat and him refusing? "

YFred, you need to do some research on the media and generally on the RoC and how it works. Media are businesses, as they are in most western countries. The once all powerful state monopoly on media is gone forever. RIK-CYBC comes second to the private TV stations. Newspapers are in every shade from deep red to black with the center taking the major share of readers.

The question is not if Talat has been invited to speak. The problem is that he does not have a message for the whole island. Either he does not want to address the people, over whom he will preside as a rotating president, or does not believe the presidency, rotating or otherwise will mean much.

Talat's views and statements are published daily, in translation, by the PIO. In fact there is more government coverage of Talat in the PIO bulletins than there is of Christofias. Just check it out and see.

What did you expect in the face of enosis? counter action was taken which was prompted by the desire of the GCs to gift Cyprus to Greece.

Are you talking about this:

During the Greek War of Independence in 1821, the Ottoman authorities feared that Greek Cypriots would rebel again. Archbishop Kyprianos, a powerful leader who worked to improve the education of Greek Cypriot children, was accused of plotting against the government. Kyprianos, his bishops, and hundreds of priests and important laymen were arrested and summarily hanged or decapitated on July 9, 1821.

The Cypriot people are free to unite their own island with whomever they want. Like we united with European Union.

But we never asked to unite with any Ottoman Empire or any Turks. So why you came here? The answer: To oppress and exploit us.

And then you want to blame us because we, like all other Greeks, wanted our freedom from foreign oppressors?

Wrong again!

The Greek Cypriot people, you claim, have a "right" to unite with whom ever you want, which you don't, because the island is not a Greek island, we live here too...

So you want to drag us into Greece do you?!

So what if you live here to? You are just an 18% minority. What is needed is the 50% + 1 vote.

In Turkey do they have to take the separate approval of the Greek or Kurdish minority in order to do what they want? I don't think so.

And we didn't "drag you into Greece". You came here as invaders. If you don't like it, then go back from where you came from.

Who cares about what goes on in Turkey?

Get over your 500 year old grudge Piratis, it is the stupidest argument you have ever managed to pull out of your backside and that is saying something

How we came to be on this island 500 years ago is totally irrelevant today and you know that very well, but if you insist then we can always claim that we took this island from the Venetians and not you, because you did not own shit until we gave it to you

So just to recap, NO Enosis is not your right and never was

You are wrong again ! Cyprus would have been totally Greek but for the British who were totally against ceeding Cyprus to Greece in order to maintain their listening posts over the middle east. Besides under the Treaty of Lausanne of 1923, Turkey gave up all its rights over Cyprus. It was the British who cleverly worked round this treaty to create the Turkish Minority Problem of Cyprus. These are the facts !!!
