The 2nd Invasion

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

thats a stupid analogy mexicans are barely 18 percent of the population, but i wonder what would happen if they were given veto power and the vice presidencey...

Just because you live here too doesnt mean you own the place.

Mexicans live in America and their not trying to claim the whole country as theirs.

Actually that was a stupid statement, considering Turks make up only 20% of the population in Cyprus. So acutally it was a good analogy...

Make that 18% (legally at least anyway).

There is a huge difference between the views of the Armies which have been portrayed by them using those busts and flags, and the views of the average TC.

Piratis cannot differentiate because he is chronically racist and if that is widespread like you say, then I do not see any future for us and the Army really does have a point...

The view of the average TC is what we need to hear more of. There is the Cyprios Information Office daily digest of TC press, and articles by Levent and Uludag and the occasional TC commentator in the GC press. We need more projection by TC politicians.

Talat has been a disappointment. A man who aspires to preside over the whole of Cyprus some day, he shows very little desire to communicate his ideas to the GCs. He is behaving as if GCs do not exist. Akinci has made some efforts to get his point across, but other than that there is not very much communication, even though the GC media would be more than willing to give space and time. These guys need some communications skills.

Incredible comment coming from you considering what happened to Kizilyurek recently, when he started to talk about Murataga and Sandallilar and then abruptly stopped and told that he cannot mention these atrocities on air during a TV discussion show.
What do you recommend that Talat talks to the GC media about? The merits of sugar in coffee or perhaps the weather?

I have heard Niazi Kizilyurek on Cyprus TV often and have seen him on Greek TV too. I must have missed the event of attempted censorship you are referring to.

What would Talat talk about? A detailed description of his vision for Cyprus, the future, the way he sees things working out from day to day. That is what would make him a real person instead of a mere TV image. These are elementary matters of communication in politics. It is ironic that Talat has given more interviews to mainland Greek media than to Cypriot ones.

Right now we have a potential future president who treats the majority of the people, over whom he will most likely preside (unelected), as irrelevant residents of another country. It is not a good sign for the future.

Are you aware of any attempts made by GC media to interview Talat and him refusing? I think you will find that GC Media is very efficient at self censorship of anything that is not everyone to their homes. Who’s hands is the GC media in? Are they democracy loving converts from old Eoka by any chance.
I know that Talat refrained from commenting during the last elections because the ability of GC media to use it against Mr X. So during the elections Talat tried to help his friend, but any other time, I think you will find that he will give interviews, the question is has the GC media got the stomach to make such an interview and then broadcast it? In any case would the GC population listen to such an interview or would they revert to doing a Piratis with the usual verbal attack followed by the video blaming everything on the Ottomans since 1570.
