Below is a google image of a beach in Famagusta. Are these beach umbrellas or what?? I put this in the General section but probably by the second page it will turn out into Cyprus Problem. :)

That is near what used to be the Constantia Hotel (don't know what it is called now), it is not in the fenced off area.

The V-shaped building is nowadays the Bilfer Palm Beach Hotel and exept for the ground floor casino and the outside terraces, it is closed for renovation.

The dots are indeed beach umbrellas. We were there in July and resting and swimming was superb under the eyes of the 24/7 beach guards of the K.K.T.C. police at the southern end of this very nice & clean beach. Next year the famous Anatolian Winehouse at the end of the pier will be open for brunches and diners again.

And maybe that horrible fence will be gone by then?

That part of the beach was the "older" beach, the one that was built up and developed since the 50s. The Florida beach hotel was there, as was the yacht club, the British club and some other old tavernas. It was also a natural small boat marina since the rocks acted as a natural wave break. Not the nicest part of the beach because it gets deep suddenly. But still nicer than most.

Florida Hotel...

Postby cymart » Fri Aug 14, 2009 4:34 pm

This belongs to an old and rather well-built friend of my wifes father who built another hotel with the same name in Ayia Napa after 1974,but he later sold it to a larger hotel group and since then we lost touch with him...
