It is a shame because much as I oppose any belief of this sort, if it had to be one, I would still prefer the Alevi's over the Sunni or the Shia bastards.

I have known a lot of Alevis in Turkey and find them to be very broad minded people. There is a theory that a great many Alevis were exiled to Cyprus in the years immediately following the Ottoman conquest and that they have made a strong contribution towards shaping the character of the Turkish Cypriot people.

Tim ,
here is very interesting news ..... according to Yeni Volkan ;

Neofitos: Turkish Cypriot Teachers must know Turkish Cypriots youths has got rights to learn Quaran .

Thats what another religious man thinks .
Too many puzzles goes on around .

A religious leader criticises a teachers' trade union for defending secular values. Now there is news.

Halil, it's not unusual for the very right wing and left wing to have the same views.
If you look back in history you will see examples of it in Turkey and Cyprus. TPap and Akel collaborating was the same thing. So don't be alramed, it's nothing new.

That is funny Tim, because that is exactly what I feel about the GC's and I am not being sarcastic, I always feel the GC's have been pursuing a long term agenda which is very slowly but masterfully executed, in order to get rid of us or have total control over the island.

Apparently you are confusing Cyprus with what the Turks did in Asia Minor and in occupied Cyprus.

You can be equal Cypriot citizens, have a proportional participation in the governing of this island and as an ethnic group you can have any additional rights given to minority ethnic groups in every other democratic country. But you want more than this, and you are willing to kill to get more. Right?

That is because we are not just any other minority :D

What you expect us just to be on the same status as the Chinese down there, what are you nuts?!

And here lies the root of the problem: "we are not just any other minority". Actually the real root are the British and Turkish imperialists who made you believe that this is the case in order to divide and rule our island.

And what is wrong with the "Chinese" if they are now Cypriot citizens? Why should an ethnic Turk (or Greek) Cypriot have any more rights than somebody who is ethnic Chinese, but now a Cypriot citizen? But most of the Chinese in Cyprus are not citizens, so why give just that as an example? Why should you have more rights than the Greeks or Kurds in Turkey, the Muslims in Bulgaria or Greece, the whites in South Africa (after Apartheid), or the Blacks and Native Americans in the USA? In what way is your minority better and should have more rights on the expense of every other Cypriot?

Yes I forget that it is easier for a Chinese to get a RoC passport than it is for a TRNC citizen.

That is the root of the problem, we can smell the shit that is yet to come from years a head...

Please do not mix our country with other countries and do not compare your democracy with the US democracy.

Where even in the US it took decades for the Blacks and Indians to get any rights what so ever, was still a democracy, was it not?!

I have told you before, I have no interest in sharing a democratic system with you, nor we have to.

We will at least have our state and sometime in the distant future, we might be able to join up, definitely AFTER we make up for the 35 years you have cost us!

There is no such thing as "trnc" or "trnc citizen". Turkish Cypriots are RoC citizens and can very easily get a RoC passport, and many of them do. Turkish settlers are Turkish citizens and if they are in Cyprus they are illegally.

And you can't have your own "Turkish State" on territory which is the homeland of 5 times more GCs than TCs. You can ethnically cleanse the majority of people and try to destroy our cultural heritage in order to change the identity of that part of our island, but you will never be able to excuse and legalize such crimes. So if you "have no interest in sharing a democratic system" with us, then you should expect that not only you will not make up for those 35 years, but you will waste even more.

It took decades for the USA to reach the level of democracy it has now, and there is still place for improvement. It is called progress, a word you don't know what it means, since you appear to be satisfied with Ottoman practices of the middle ages. Today it is 2009, and Cyprus is part of the EU, so our democracy is a 21st century democracy, and not a 1950s or 60s democracy.
