RELATIVES DEMAND THE CONSTRUCTION OF A MAUSOLEUM

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

RELATIVES DEMAND THE CONSTRUCTION OF A MAUSOLEUM

Postby halil » Mon Aug 10, 2009 1:44 pm

Members of the Association of Relatives of the Vanished Bus have paid a visit to Prime Minister Dervis Eroglu to demand the construction of a mausoleum in Iskele, in memory of martyrs.

It was in May 1964 in Larnaca, when 11 Turkish Cypriots went missing after leaving their homes for work.

The bus carrying them disappeared and the incident remained as a mystery until the remains of passengers were recovered, in a well located in the Voroklini village in South Cyprus.

All were executed by Greek Cypriot shooting and then thrown into the well.

A documentary film, directed by Fevzi Tanpinar, was made two years ago to narrate the tragic story.

During the visit, the founding President of the Association Celal Dimililer said they want a mausoleum to ensure the remembrance of the Greek Cypriot atrocity.

For his part, Prime Minister Eroglu said the demand would be taken into consideration.

The timing is just right though! A couple of days after the location of the remains of 16 Greek Cypriots, and the five soldiers executed in cold blood, the mausoleum issue is raised.
