For all his faults Galloway is a very articulate and convincing speaker. If only Cypriots had someone like him, with an even bigger mouth, in, say the EU, we might see an acceptable solution to the Cyprus problem before the next century.

I can still see him ripping up a US committee member for arse wipe on TV, the man certainly has conviction.

Pity about the pussy cat though!

Hi Jerry, it is so refreshing to know that there are some who are able to appreciate the qualities and talents of others WITHOUT professing to be a particular admirer.

George Galloway is a truly great advocate for those he represents (IMHO) and I agree with your comment that Cyprus would benefit greatly if represented by one such as he.

Unfortunately, so maligned by the media has he become, the general attitude of those who prefer to be lied to and like to be led by the nose to who knows where, are only too pleased to seize upon the negativity of such media reporting (I refer to the 'Cat' incident) and are thus oblivious to the positive aspects of his actions.

Whether or not one AGREES with his policies is a moot point, what cannot be denied is the fact that the man did indeed defend himself successfully amid a vast assembly of opposing political figures (represented by a select few) and did PROVE his sincerity.

Such men as these (who tell the truth) are sadly lacking in the halls of power (IMHO) and whilst the general public are unwilling to pay any mind to that which he proposes (without the influence of the media) and are either unable or unwilling to think for themselves, very little will alter in the said halls of power.

I do wonder if the British public have completely lost their capacity to think for themselves, particularly when such childish responses are posted as opinions and levelled against possibly the ONLY British politician with the courage to 'Tell the Truth'.

As has been mentioned severally before, perhaps they prefer to be lied to. (IMHO)

Since George Galloway has (rightly) attracted more interest than Mr Charalambos (honorary threadsterist) ... I'll jump on the bandwagon too and offer my best wishes to George on this his 55th Birthday ....

Proving beyond doubt that despite the enormous amount of opposition to your own political persuasions, YOU have the grace to acknowledge the (possibly hidden or at least slightly obscure) virtues of those who are inclined to 'Tell the Truth', regardless of receiving endless disparaging verbal attacks for having the temerity to do so.

I am sure your good wishes are as graciously received as they are given and (on behalf of George Galloway) thank you for your sincerity.

Among the fields of thorns, one invariably will find a rose, it is merely a question of seeking to find it.

Forgive me Floda, but last time I had the good fortune of listening to Gorgeous George he was: espousing Democracy, being anti-racist, slamming Bush and Blair for invading Afghanistan and Iraq, helping the Palestinian people etc ... So, how am I endowed with "grace" for my birthday wishes to him? ... Unless, you are one of those people I last argued with in a pub, who accused me of merely fancying him for having such a sexy Scottish accent ... 8)

Well it just shows what a set of plonkers you lot are; this is the man who embraced as a friend none other than Saddam Hussein, in case you've got short memorys Saddam was executed for inumerable crimes against humanity which were made even worse by the fact that they were against his own people. Or don't the Marsh Arabs and Kurds count in your creeping admiration of Galloway 'Rebel Without a Conscience'.

I'm not surprised that the two of you have so much respect for an absolute arsehole such as George Galloway.

Saddam Hussein, was America's “best friend” in the ME for a very long time, or doesn't your memory go that far back?
