I have been wondering if a country can ask manufacturers to limit the top speed of cars it allows to be imported. The thought of a flash BMW capable of a maximum speed of 100 KMH is hilarious. Better still would be an electronic system that automatically cuts your speed to that of the road, ie you enter a built up area and your car automatically slows to 50. That would be so COOL!
No I am not a car hating Luddie, I love cars, but I like people too.
Absolute agree . The young mostly Cypriot driver is a menace on the road. Driving antics remind me very much of similar road behaviour in Nairobi and Kampala .
Just have a look at this , take the bad road conditions out and it could be referring to Cyprus.
""According to the World Bank and the World Health Organisation, the number of fatalities on Africa's roads is predicted to rise by over 80 per cent between 2000 and 2020, second only to South Asia at 144 per cent.
While there are two deaths for every 10,000 cars in the United States, the figures for Uganda and Ethiopia, the countries with the highest number of fatalities compared with vehicles is a staggering 190.
In Kenya, over 3,000 people are killed every year on the roads, most between the ages of 15 and 44, a cost to the country of around $50 million annually.
Poor vehicle maintenance, the lack of decent roads, the failure to promote road safety and a culture of driving recklessly and too fast are all part of the problem, despite endeavours by governments across the region to cut the number of road deaths. ""
