Don't worry about the logo - it is relatively unimportant...

I made my first 'logo' from letraset - the company lasted fifteen years and made cash-a-plenty from some of the biggest names in the communications industry. If they want your product they don't care about your logo...

Second bit of advice... if a 'marketing' person offers you advice on your logo or 'corporate identity' the correct response is (Edited by the Moderator to say, in a vehement tone) 'Go away'

This has been the hardest thing to achieve! People are likely to hook onto a creative person's efforts inorder to make money out of him, but it is rare to have anyone share his/her vision. So if you are going to get collaborators or employees you have to fall back on traditional carrot and stick methods.

As for the Logo, I agree with Grump. I too could not get inspired to create a neat logo (my personal favorite is the UA logo of United Artists, so neat and simple!) so I used ready made letters and it stuck as a title on a magazine for 17 years, till I was bought out by a much bigger publisher who also hired me as editor.
