Varosha-some very interesting new photos......

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Cymart, I am also interested on what Emily Markidou (who is she?) or anyone else has to say about Famagusta and its future after we return. How can one get more information on this?

I tried, but it sais "Private Messaging is temporarily disabled". Not sure if I am doing something wrong. Who is Emily Markides anyway?

Edit: Ok, I have just found out who Dr. Emily Markides is.

Cymart,

I just realised who Emily Markides is, she was my neighbor both in Famagusta and later in London. Small world!

Am sending you pm for her Famagusta plan.

Emily Markides

Postby cymart » Sun Aug 16, 2009 10:32 pm

Is from the Psaras family and married to Kyriacos Markides from Nicosia an author of several very good books about Christian Mysticism etc. They both live in Maine U.S.A. and lecture at the university there. She is also involved with an ecological garden project at Ayia Skepi next to Ayios Irakledios monastery outside Nicosia for the rehabilitation of drug addicts.
Their daughter Vasia made an excellent short D.V.D. on Varosha and the situation in Cyprus last year called 'Hidden in the sand'.

Cymart,

I bumped into the Ayia Skepi project while web searching permaculture, but did not recognise Emily because of the hat she wore and the shadow cast on her face.

Did you know the family when you lived in Famagusta? I knew Emily's mother and father. I wonder if they are alive. Amazing how you lose touch once a town is lost and people scatter.

My friends are all over the world, we even have a Famagusta boy in Zambia, and doing quite well there too!
