Are you now saying this has been banned?
Cant think this is so as a lot of longboats ae still used on the canals to ship non essential items about....
BOF

the gov are either putting a stop to it or its in force already.
Yes you are right these boats may be used for moving things around but living on one/being resident is or has stopped. just crazy.

Oh Baby don't listern to old wives tales!

Yes thats right moorings to rent.
different parts of the uk rivers are run by different councils.
the river my friends want to live on are the broads, now from what they have been told the broads authority no longer allow people to live on boats.
right listen....you can own a boat/canal boat, you can own a mooring or rent a mooring, you can leave your boat at ther mooring for as long as you wish but you cant live on the boat as the broads authority say NO.
however you can own a boat and mooring or rent one and keep your boat there but you can only stay on it for holidays...

Well it's not on that website so I guess they will have to go some where else. That's life, was this always the case thou?
thats because different councils for different areas DUH

Emma,

YOur friends are realising now what was plain to me in 1975 when I left the UK.

Freedom is not part of the British soul. Everything must be regulated, controled, superivised. Notice how British commentators adopt a holier than thou attitude when reporting on America, a land where freedom is enshrined in a written constitution and taken very seriously. Americans even vote for their police chiefs and judges. And yes there are negatives, but freedom is not painless. You gotta work at it.
