they are happy to pay their rates etc but its not allowed!!

Many boat owners are very irresponsible… ie: dumping rubbish in the water, not going by safety rules, sea worthiness of boats is also an issue, etc.

Most of them wanting that kind of lifestyle are bums keeping coast guards busy… I’m not surprised they’re not allowed.
dont be so stupid! ive never heard anything like it, my friends happen to be profesional working people with damn good jobs. They are not bums, dont dump rubbish either.
we have a boat here also in the uk and take it out when in uk, never seen any rubbish dumped and why? because its not allowed! gypoes on the other hand are bums and dump their shit everywhere and steal to make money not like the gypsies many years ago. the gypsies now cant even be approached by the police as there are too many of them and all have a surname as smith.
my thread was about not being allowed to do certain things and i think the gov want people in houses, not boats, caravans or motorhomes so they can take there bloody taxes, and it sucks.
there is no rubbish dumping in uk, the fines are high you see.
but cyprus on the other hand has beautiful blue sea with a fridge freezer dumped on the bank at the lovely blue laggon!! mmmm nice and on the island there is crap dumped evrywhere!!!! mmmmm nice

I can not believe it, well actually i can with the way the uk gov are going.
They can have a private mooring with a boat but are not allowed to live on it. Also along with the private mooring they are not allowed to put fencing up!! hedges etc!!
This is quite new, the govs idea!!
the big question is why? miles of rivers in the uk and cant make good use of.
They have talked about owning a motor home with a plot of land as a base, Nope they cant do that either unless they apply for planning permission to change the use of land to residential!!! what is it coming to, the uk gov stinks, what do you think?

Haven't they ever heard of a Canal boat, duh!

there are thousands of miles of rivers and Canals in the UK - a lot of people DO live in long boats on the canals and thoroughly enjoy it.
Are you now saying this has been banned?
Cant think this is so as a lot of longboats are still used on the canals to ship non essential items about....
And yes the UK is sinking fast, next year this bunch of sweaty socks will be out so fast their feet wont touch the ground - But who will you replace them with? And Frankly can they pull it back from the Disaster it will be left in?

You can live on a Canal boat, so what the problem. You just need to find a mooring. Duh!

the gov are either putting a stop to it or its in force already.
Yes you are right these boats may be used for moving things around but living on one/being resident is or has stopped. just crazy.

Yes thats right moorings to rent.
different parts of the uk rivers are run by different councils.
the river my friends want to live on are the broads, now from what they have been told the broads authority no longer allow people to live on boats.
right listen....you can own a boat/canal boat, you can own a mooring or rent a mooring, you can leave your boat at ther mooring for as long as you wish but you cant live on the boat as the broads authority say NO.
however you can own a boat and mooring or rent one and keep your boat there but you can only stay on it for holidays...
