Nikitas wrote:"Every country works that way" Cynicism again at its turkish best. No, not everyone does it that way, in democracies the leadership of the armed forces is appointed and FIRED by civilians. Check up on it and see how it is done.
"Islam is a tricky one to keep down with the lid of democracy, you see" which sort of disqualifies Turkey from EU and from the qualities of being European.
Yes Nikitas, I would love to see what the UK or the US would do against a bunch of Islamic douchebags who want Sharia, now that would be the real test for their "amazing" democracy.
Oh wait, but we have seen it, millions of people marched against the war and the governments decided to tackle the problem with ditching everything their system is built up on and everything they believe in by opening illegal torture camps all over the world in order to hold captive and torture hundreds of people without a charge.
Now that is something you will not see in Turkey, on the contrary Turkey says "NO we will not be a tool in this bullshit war!!"
What does Cyprus do? "Oh please, of course you can use our airspace to transport illegally held prisoners to your torture camps, we would do anything for the US".
On the other hand Turkey is still finding ways to excuse and release captured and GUILTY PKK terrorists.
THAT is Western understanding for democracy and human rights.
Turkey says "Peace at home peace in the world"
The West says "Peace at home fuck the rest of the world"
And we are supposed to become "European" and civilised by following their lead? You what?!
