The Orams case is of course very significant to the aspirations of the ROC. These can generally be described as destruction and conflict by stealth. Mr Apostolides is without doubt being financed by the ROC as the Orams are likely financed by the TRNC. The legal bills run into millions of pounds. For what? Mr appostolides is very unlikely , in his lifetime, to return to his fathers lemon grove. He is more than likely to remain as an ROC employee living in the South. Is he so desperate to live in the TRNC and give up what he has. I do not think so. Does he even remember the land that his family left in the North? He ran to the UK and capitalised on the provisions offered to him by the British Community.
He may gain political victory but at what cost to his family and his people?
I feel that his possible victory will make no difference to his quality of life. He is well marked as a political nationalist with no desire to settle or for peace upon Cyprus. Shame on you Mr Appostolides for your vindictive and nationalistic vendetta. Why not settle out of Court? You seek only revenge and violent victory. There will be no winners whilst people like this man so actively perpetuate the Cyprus problem.
Will the Orams demolish their villa? Unlikely as I am sure their assests have been shifted to avoid the vindictive attacks from this shameful individual. Of course it is a fact that he and his family have been disadvantaged. This is wrong but Mr appostolides has no patent upon the past sufferings on Cyprus. Mr Appostolides has been fortunate. He has had the advantage of British education and support over the years...and now he attempts to crucify the very hand that supported him and his family during his dificult times.
The case is very sad. Certainly Mr and Mrs Orams set out with no malice or intent to cause distress. Mr Appostolides's agenda has always been very very different. People like this man of which there are many in the ROC deserve nothing but the hollow victory that may be awarded to them. Fortunately they will soon die and perhaps be replaced with people with a more forward thinking and humain philosophy towards their homeland.

Hey dandruff brain! Mr Apostloides voted yes in the Annan Plan.

He is well marked as a political nationalist with no desire to settle or for peace upon Cyprus

Where do we get these chavs from? The least this meatball could do was do a little research on the guy and find out that Apostolides has always been a supporter of a heavy compromise from the GC side.

After the Ercan judgement I see a shift in the approach of the British Justice System and now they seem to be more in line with their continental counterparts. Thus, after Ercan judgement I am expecting the Orams decision at the Court of Appeal to go against the Orams.

Such an outcome will not bring peace any closer to Cyprus. As far as property ownership is concenrned by foreigners in TRNC and ROC, the issue of title deeds is a mess on both sides of the border. In many cases the builder sold the house, collected the money and also mortgaged it to the bank and collected more "easy" money. The builder does not intend to pay the mortgage and is quite happy to let the bank sell the property. This is the mess on both sides of the border, it must be a Cypriot thing.

Coming back to Orams, the case has slowed the sale of houses to expats to almost a standstill. This is a welcome pause to give a chance to authorities to sort out the mess I mentioned above. It has also motivated the estate agents to look to other potential customers and the reports coming in show great interest from Russians, Iranians and Anatolian Turks. In fact there are new moves in TRNC parliament to allow Anatolian Turks to buy like any Turkish Cypriot without a need for permission. As far as the GCs are concerned, it reminds us of the saying "out of the frying pan into the fire". Would they rather have expats sitting on their land or the Anatolian Turks?
Cyprus is divided permanently now bar the shouting.

If the solicitors handling the Orams case have ceased to operate they will simply transfer to another one and the barristers defending the case still remain the same. So nothing much of importance there.

Correct.

What has been destroyed? And how else are Cypriots to regain their stolen property after 35 years? Open conflict, against 40,000 occupying troops?

Justice... at the European Court of Justice.

He is a private individual and can live where he pleases.

The same 'British community' that had the moral duty, the military capability and the legal responsibility to prevent the tearing apart of his country. But did nothing. It's the least they could do.

None.

Do you know him, to make such vicious slurs?

Shame on you for your vindictive vendetta against a refugee. He sought and secured justice. Non-violently. Ghandi would be proud.

40,000 foreign troops perpetuate the Cyprus problem.

In what way did the Orams support him and his family?

They bought stolen property. That is illegal and there are repurcussions when you break the law, regardless of whether no malice or distress is intended.

If this post is anything to go by, you're a poor judge of what is forward thinking and humane in relation to Cyprus and its people. Stop interfering.

Sorry but what relevance does that have? not much in the scheme of things.
How much disadvantaged are you by being a political nationalist?
It may just be that I am in a position to witness how many people on this forum seek to perpetuate hatred and malice that could bring their own homeland to economic and political doom.
It is already very clear to me that the Island suffers a lack of investment and opportunity because of its absence of stability and ability to resolve its political problems.
Certainly Cypriots in the current generation are both deprived and hindered by the stigma of the Cyprus problem.
Shame on you people who so actively perpetuate this destructive image.
How many Cypriots have moved on and made a sucess of their lives. Certainly the most sucessfull Cypriots are those that have dealt with their loss and found new and fresh callenges in their lives.

Wasnt sure about you , till now. You are a very young and a very naive individual . I doubt whether you are over 25 years old , however as young as you are I'm going to give it to you.
You talk a load of rubbish young man. The Orams , on their own decision , bought land that they must have known was stolen G/C land. Like most of the Brits with empty brains who purchase stolen land in the occupied part of the island that they surely know its Turkish occupied ,
deserve all that they get. Why on earth do you think that the legal and only recognized owner of the land their villa is built on is being vindictive. Are you so naive as to consider an action by the legal owner as being "vindictive" !!!
The Orams along with the other cheapskates will get their just rewards. There are international laws governing ownership of land and property and no third world nation will succeed in altering such laws. Turkey along with its band of thieves and corrupt military have usurped land that wasnt theirs , this is not the 14th century and the accomplices of this theft will not be permitted to enjoy the spoils of their crimes.
Turkish owned land and property in the RoC is still the property of the legal owners , the RoC has neither usurped such property , sold to greedy Brits or dispose off in any way. Any T/C can reclaim his land and property in the RoC.
