Can somebody give me advice .. On how social security service for self employed in cyprus works ?

Basically you register with the social insurance office and then pay your dues each quarter. This is compulsory if you are self-employed in Cyprus. As to whether you are likely to get anything out of the scheme - this is a different question. Entitlement to free health care is means tested and only applies to those with very low incomes. Entitlement to a pension depends on how long you have contributed. I regard it as being a kind of extra tax for being self-employed in Cyprus and, since income tax levels here are low, do not feel too badly about this.

You only queue for ages if you go at the end of the month.

my boss did it for me on my behalf, i nearly reported her missing!!

Like oyther goverment offices, manned by staff who havnt a clue what the regulations are, they employ everybody uncles and cousins, and when you want advice or help, forget it

And they always, always want to see and have a copy of the one piece of paper that you didn't take with you!

I agree. I always go about three weeks before the payment deadline to avoid queueing. Isn't it posible to pay by direct debit?
