Anyway, post the exact brand and model number of the WW here if you like and I’ll see if I can find that part for you from the Internet etc.

It's not GE, it's a knock off arab version.

Oh right...

Well, I guess this lady can always send them her brand & model number and ask for the part...

What ever the make the machine has had no problems it wasn't that much cheaper than the rest & I was advised getting parts were easy.
truthfully I think the part is not the problem it's because I want to fix it myself and not call their repair man.

eleni wrote:I have a "Super General washing machine" on Saturday the blasted catch on the door broke  I took the door off to get to it, and phoned the shop I bought it from, they told me I would have to come in and order a new one! I asked how long it would take to get one and was told " if you come in and order one you can pick it up at the same time" OK panic over the parts dept will open Monday.

This morning I went to the parts dept with the broken catch in hand to be told "then nomiso ebarki" (What! the machine is 2 years old) the man went into the store room to look and a came back a little later "then ebarki" !!!hsit!!! what am I supposed to do now I asked is there anywhere else I might get one.. "then xero mboris na thokimassis (another shop).. in the car I went to this other shop.. no joy! but he did say the shop I bought the machine from should have it as they are the main stockist..

Home I came and phoned the head office, who said " the part probably doesn't come on its own" (but it does for other machines cos the guy gave me one to see if it fit) "you may need to buy a new door" What!
 ( for a 2 euro catch I may need a new door) I then said peri pessis ton kosmos yai ena catch na kreazo neo porta.. that's how it is he said... He then said he will phone the parts and find out and phone me back! if they don't have a door they will sell me a new washing machine 1/2 price.. this blasted catch is getting dearer by the minute...as if I would buy a new washing machine there... I bought all my kitchen things there 2 years ago and have a dishwasher that leaks underneath, a fridge freezer that no longer makes ice, an air-conditioning unit that doesn't blow cold & now the washing machine!!

Most parts are used on other makes of machine, they are not made by the maker of the machine. Search the internet, what make is it?

Does it look like one of these

Door parts on most appliances are a pain in the rear . I hate it when a customer comes in expecting to find a spring for the door of his gas range or a seal for his refrigerator. Such things are rarely stocked , to do so you would require a lot of space besides the demand is not that great . We generally order such items so there is always a delay in obtaining parts .

Can I also say that most door parts malfunction either as a result of wear and tear or end user fault , slamming the door , kicking the door - Italians specialize in that whilst shouting out bon faculo - the Cypriots just slam the door as hard as they can manage whilst shouting our ai gamisou koloporta !!
The French on the other hand like the opening of an appliance to be as accommodating as possible so they tend to sort of stretch the door damaging the hinges in the process . Just a few observations I made over many years of serving the Catering trade !!

The parts will be made by someone else they are then used by any company. Do Super General manufacture it? It says on their website it say branded products. Post a picture of the catch.

I did go on the website and was just about to email them, today when the repair man phoned with his news, he had been trying other places to see if he could get one.. unfortunately I can't post a pic as I left it with them....

Thanks for the descriptions Miltiades although in our family we would never abuse the washing machine door even if it is a Super General
