EuroCypria - what they like?

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

Postby kurupetos » Mon Aug 03, 2009 12:25 am

Eurocypria's airplanes are more modern than CA.

From the company's website:

Eurocypria Airlines operates six modern Boeing 737-800W, comfortably configured for 189 passengers. The 737-800 interior is modeled after the all-new spacious interior of the award-winning Boeing 777, with stylish all-leather seats and all aircraft are equipped with modern Inflight Entertainment. The 737-800 can fly up to 2,905 nautical miles (5,380 kms) and has the most advanced design technology in the single-aisled market, such as an all-new wing and updated liquid-crystal displays in the flight deck.

The aircraft also comes with drag-advanced blended winglets, an advanced technology which improves fuel efficiency, increases range and improves take-off performance and payload capacity. Other benefits include reduced noise near airports and lower engine-maintenance costs.

Eurocypria is owned by Cyprus Airways. All it's planes are old planes of Cyprus Airways. Having said this, some of their planes do not have on-board entertainment.

To be honest, the price of the tickets is not that much cheaper, and I would rather pay 40/50 pounds more to fly with Cy. Airways because their service is far better, with more leg room.

Budget airlines like XL Airways are far worse.

Here is my own personal rating of EuroCypria, Cyprus Airways is in brackets just do so can compare.

Arrival/Departure on time: 4/5 (3/5)
Service of Staff: 4/5 (4/5)
Other people on plane: 2/5 (4/5)
Plane Tidiness: 2/5 (4/5)
Legroom: 2/5 (4/4)

The main one for me is the class of people who fly with me. I have witnessed two on-plane arguments from passengers, and believe me, I rather I was not there. Having the plane filled with yobs is not my idea of relaxing. I also enjoy legroom and hate paying extra for my drinks. Cyprus Airways does not charge extra for on board drinks.

The airlines which I recommend are:

1. Cyprus Airways
2. First Choice
3. Thomas Cook (some planes, not all)

This is all, I hope this helped you.

Eurocypria is not owned by Cyprus Airways now and their planes are not the old Cyprus Airways planes. That would be impossible as CYprus Airways has never flown Boeings and Eurocypria flies 737's.

Why do people post about stuff they know nothing about? :?

Ok, it used to be,

"was a wholly owned subsidiary of Cyprus Airways, but on 28 June 2006, the latter sold the entire share capital of Eurocypria to the Government of Cyprus for CY£13,425,000. It was sold due to the poor financial situation at Cyprus Airways and because it was one of the few ventures of Cyprus Airways to make a profit."

I was told that EuroCypria has the old planes of Cyp. Airways, maybe I was mistaken.

Hello Gentlemen,

It's my understanding that the Government of Cyprus holds approximately 70% of the shares of Cyprus Airways.

Not only does Cyprus Airways currently fly Boeing 737's as indicated in Kurupetos's post above but also flew 707's in the seventies and eighties.

 Once again, Cyprus Airways does not fly 737's. It flies Airbus's A319's A320's, A321's and 2 A330's.

It also flew comets and BAC1-11's in the 70's-80's.

In the early 70's they had Tridents, then after 1974 they had a couple of turbo-prop Viscounts (I went on one), I don't recall them ever having Comets.

Now, as you quite rightly stated, CY only has Airbus kit, Eurocypria has Boeings.

Then perhaps you could answer this question for me: Why would a pilot for Cyprus Airlines come to the U.S. to train on Boeings?

:D

I don't think so. Cyprus Airways sent him. This was about 6 years ago.
