In Cyprus, one side has used religion and religious leaders to propagate the hatred to the other side. Did that happen in Schweiz-land?
Can't blame everything on religion, Deniz, since there are many countries who only have one main religion and yet they have many problems. It has also got to do with the values the Swiss people have and what their country means to them, like "all for one and one for all" attitude. We have many immigrants living here in Switzerland from all nationalities and religions, almost 40% of the population in fact, and yet, the country remains to be very civilized, because the immigrant too, despite their different religions and cultures, integrate into the Swiss civilized culture to become part of it, for themselves and their children. It goes to show, that people(Swiss) can be respectful of others cultures and their way of life, specially when the arriving immigrants respects the host country's way of life also, specially when they (immigrant) too benefit as a result of it.!
