What is this Compromise then?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Get Real! » Fri Jul 31, 2009 8:57 pm

It was a desperate decision made by Makarios under duress from the invasion & occupation, and without consulting the public.

I for one do NOT recognize it, especially in view of the countless UN resolutions ignored by Turkey.

And not to mention that the agreement was unconstitutional.

If Makarios did not have the authority to make 13 proposals then whatever made him think he had the power to dissolve the constitution and replace it with a BBF???

What if you're Armenian? Or Maronite? Or Latin? Don't they have their rights taken away? Why are you mitigating the injustice? The regime in the north isn't discriminatory in that sense... it rejects everyone who doesn't consider themselves Turkish.

The decided to side with you GCs.

They did.

When, exactly, did Armenian, Latin and Maronite Cypriots decide to decide this as part of the Constitution:

ARTICLE 2

For the purposes of this Constitution

(1) the Greek Community comprises all citizens of the Republic who are of Greek origin and whose mother tongue is Greek or who share the Greek cultural traditions or who are members of the Greek Orthodox Church;

when the above did not hold true for them.

The world backs it you have to explain it to them that your man in black was a lieing bastard.

Cyprus’ highest court can easily overrule it. It doesn’t take an astronaut to see that it’s unconstitutional.
