ASPROYIA

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

ASPROYIA

The above article (in Turkish) talks about a gathering of Greek and Turkish speaking villagers of Asproyis/Paphos, who wish to return to their own homes in the event of a settlement. The get together happened at celebrations (perhaps a traditional Panayir/ Panegyri). The TC villagers expressed their wishes to return to their lands and homes and live together with their Greek Cypriot neighbors. Good for them, I say.

So not all TCs want partition. There is still hope then.

Lurucadis both GC and TC had similar meeting in 2002.

No doubt the some politicians (and some loud mouths on this forum) will do their best to keep them apart, a few words of hate, a few threats and we are back in the 50s and 60s.

Well, CTP won in Lurucina. We have been for peace and reconciliation since the 80's. The rest of Cyprus will catch up with us sooner or later.

From what I know, Bafidies, were a tough lot. The Lurucadi's were also strong and united. We shall see - for what its worth.

TMT and Eoka was very strong in the 50's and 60s. I don't see TMT having the same strength now, although I can't vouch for Eoka.

Who in his right mind would want to relinquish a village in Paphos, to move to the Kyrenia district! Of course these people want to return to their villages in Paphos where there is water and lush vegetation and where they can get away from the "cosmopolitan" scene of Kyrenia.

Kyrenia was going down the tubes well before the invasion. Nobody noticed that the area, the strip of coast from the town to the wet is simply too small for all the stuff people want to put there.

I have said this before in regard to this BBF thing they want to foist on Cypriots. After a settlement people will gravitate where life is comfortable, or at least tolerable. The idea that you can keep peope artifically divided is total nonsense. It is probable that in a post BBF Cyprus, Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca and Famagusta will be the main conentrations of local inhabitants. Kyrenia an Paphos will be "retiree ghettos" and the rest will be resettled pretty much as it was before 1960. In the end we will have gone through 50 years of bullshit to get back to square one.

Thought provoking and wise words from our N as ever .....

Except for the comments about Kyrenia, which have been noted in one of my Black Books!
