Before these thoughtful TCs leave the north ... can they do something about removing the Turkish troops they were so keen to have all these years. Only so that perhaps some of the GCs can get back to their rightful homes instead of leaving the whole place for Turkish Settlers to sing and dance in.

Thank you ... will the last one to leave kindly put out the lights!

I knew you'd make me welcome Oracle

That land is mine whether you welcome me back or not. Same as the GCs who left the north. You either want 'em back or not. Make up your mind. No ifs and but. Take it or leave it. Its the like of you that Halil maybe trying to protect me against. If it good for all those foreigners, its good for me.

Fortunately for you, I am not into that stuff, I prefer Led Zep and Pink Floyd to that revolving music. You know what I mean.

Its better than your fustanoulla. With yours, your crown jewels will freeze in winter.

On the other hand what do Greek Orthodox priests wear? I'd say they are the same wrap around skirt except the colour.

About the evzones, isn't their fez a remnant of the ottomans? Probably the skirt also? :?

It seems you have missed my posting re: the Fez.

It went something like this:

It was during some reforms in the 19th Century. The Porte decided that the turban had to make way for a more pragmatic head gear. They then decided on something like the head gear of the Evzones. Some said OK, some vehemently objected on the grounds that it was a "gavur" head gear with its long tassle. One minsiter who was a proponent of the idea, called for a pair of scissors and cut the tassle to a hands length. He is retorted as saying, " now that I have circuncised the 'Gavur' invention we can now wear it".

Well that is the story I was told and please do not tell Oracle that the Evzones stole the idea from the 'Turks'.

I think its the other way around. Perhaps some one could provide a back-up srory?
