IPC commission in the north finally recognised by ECHR.

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

The plaintiff was given SOME of her land back, and 1.5 million as compensation for what exactly? For being deprived of her enjoyment of her property during the last 35 years.

So who won the case? Who admitted violation of the lady's right to unfettered enjoyment of her property? It seems like the TRNC has lost BIG TIME.

In these cases, whether they go through the "commission" or directly to the ECHR the basic premise is the same: the Turks are liable for depriving people of their HUMAN right to enjoyment of their property.

The final decision as to the ADEQUACY of the commission has yet to be issued. This is where the RoC comes in and accuses Turkey of delays which nullify the whole concept of the commission. The cases settled were picked out of the whole caseload because of their propaganda value. There are dozens of applications which have not been examined even though they were submitted years before Tymvios and Alexandrou. So do not be in a hurry to rejoice.

And in any case, remember that for the ECHR the defendant is always TURKEY NOT THE TRNC which has no right to appear in the court. The "commission" is regarded as part of the TURKISH administration not the TRNCs. So the recogniton sought so passionately is not there.
