The TCs are obviously not looking at the larger picture, but they never did.

Armies, especially the professional elements in armies, officers etc, do not sit idle. Even if there is no action they find something to do, and in the case of Cyprus it will be a repeat of 1960 when the two contingents, ELDYK and TURDYK will be busy drawing up contingency plans. Idiotic plans like the Aphrodite plan etc.

If the TCs think that they need guarantees from Turkey then the GCs must have Greek guarantees. They talk about a token force of 650 Turks and 950 Greeks, like we had in 1960. Forget the token part. How about 650 Turks and 5000 Greeks to offset the geographic proximity of Turkey and its ability to instantly reinforce its forces. And commensurate difference in armaments and see how they like that scenario.

TCs seem to simply refuse to mature and assume the responsibility of being a free and independent community in a free nation. They are always looking for their father figure.
