Ferry for Greece, where/how to?

Postby cytrader » Sun Jul 26, 2009 2:13 am

Hello,

where can I find all the destination from Cyprus to Greece via ferry/boat?

Are avaible all the year?

And there is some connection that you know with the west part of greece like via Crete to go then in Zakhyntos, Cefalonia or Corfu' or Patras without need to make with car or bus from Athens to Patras?

thanks in advance for your help.

We left from Kilini Port to Zakinthos and the same port to Cephalonia. Kilini is futher along the coast from Patra.

Louis Lines do a combination of cruise and car ferry from Limassol to Rhodes and then you have to make arrangements with another ferry carrier to Piraeus. We used the Nissos Kypros run by Salamis in 2001 direct to Piraeus, but the Twin Towers disaster saw the end of that ferry service.

You can put your car aboard a ship, but they don't accept passengers which means you fly to Greece and pick up your car from the port of Piraeus.

I notice you don't want to travel by either bus or car, so sorry I have no idea of any alternative. Maybe somebody can help you who knows the sailings and connections, etc.

so you went on the ferry in 2001, thats a fantastic help:
i was on it in 1974 but i thought it best not to mention it as it has absolutely no value in stating the fact: so i wont bother wasting everybodys time....unlike some

My advice to the original poster is: "Let the train take the strain."

no not urgent, for october is sufficient to find the way (:-)))

I need to arrive in Italy via boat, possibily without use the car from Pireus to Patras, so we can do the travel just with Boat and some change of boat with a taxi, without do hundreds of km.

Now Italy from Brindisi and Bari ports connect to Corfu, Zakhyntos and Cefalonia islands and Patras, the problem is that from Patras is not possible to arrive in Athens...

So the best should be however to find a way from the west islands in the adriatic to arrive in Crete and then do Crete/Cyprus that I know are connected.

But I tried to find something and seem that Crete is not connected with the west islands of greece like Zakhyntos, Corfu or Cefalonia that is near.

Do you know about it?

Crete has an infrequent service to Kalamata and from there you can drive to Patras. But no connection to the Ionian islands is available from Crete.
