The only Good Turk is a Dead Turk chant banned.

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

You should be more worried about the chanting of Turkish and TC slogans and the annual celebrations of the murder of 5,000 Cypriots with parades and aerial shows.

So how many medals were handed out this year to your “brave” who raped women, and butchered men, women, and children?

I do not remember any racist chants in the army.

It was more about, "everything for the country" or some other crappy songs.

I did my token gesture in 87 and never heard such chants either.

So you won't have heard this dialogue....

Officer: Who's you're enemy?
Soldier: I don't know. I don't know.
(slap, slap)
Officer: (angry) Who's you're enemy?
(slap, slap)
Soldier: (crying) The Turk! The Turk!
Officer: (angry) Who's you're enemy?
(slap, slap)
Soldier: (crying) I don't know. I don't know.
(slap, slap)
Officer: (angry) THE COMMUNIST, YOU FILTH!

I knew of the hatred to communism but did not realise until recently that it ranked higher than Turk. That is new to me.

Probably as many as were handed to your braves in the south for the same reason. Or was it just blessings that your Archbishop was giving to your murders that took part in killing civilians in 74.

Don't manufacture bollocks with me you uneducated little shit and answer the question arsehole...

GR, I told you before, I was educated at Trahona Open University with a degree in Life. As far as medals are concerned, have never attended a single 20th July Celebration, so I have no idea.
So answer my question, regarding the blessing of the Murderers who took part in the coup by your new Archbishop. Are they now forgiven in the eyes of your god.

It is very difficult to say what she intends to do, it all depends on what messages come accross from the EU which we never get to hear. All we hear is what they want us to hear, never the real messages sent. If the message is forget EU, then I suspect two fingers and a full 90 degrees north towards mother Russia just to rub their noses in it. I said this some time ago and got accused by oddball that I was nuts.

The real question is if Turkey does such a thing and the Army take over to protect western interests. Will that be seen as a good thing by the EU?[/quote]

One of the major tennents of the EU regarding Turkey is that like all other EU states the military must be under the control of an elected government, not decide what it does how and when.....
IF Turkey was to get into bed with Russia (and looking at Iran and the quest for greater freedom from the youth) i think many of its greatest problems would come from within.....

My only suspicions are that the west has always been very dishonourable and supported all sorts of fascistic dictatorships because it served their interests. I don’t see any change; all I see is lip service to democracy.

That is very true, yet here we are trying to justify ourselves before such minds, hoping to get a place in the EU bollocks.

Who are they to judge anyone

YFred you know very little about the motivating drives of Greek officers before 1974. The scene depicted by The Cypriot is very real, it played out thousands of times.

IF you do not look into the Greek Civil war (1945-49) you cannot understand what happened in Cyprus.

As for this idiotic chanting practice, it is an American import taken right out of the marines training handbook. Physiologically it is total crap to waste oxygen during strenuous exercise to shout out crappy slogans.

So if there was no intervention, how many communists would these deranged people could have killed? Do you not find the official figure of 97 GCs killed realistic? What is the real figure if different and did stop after the intervention or did they continue to kill their enemies using the war as a smoke screen, like most fascists do?
