Not all Brits are 'lager louts'!

This bloke and his 5 adultish sons in a PUB? They were sitting there minding there own business and 30 people decided to attack them? They waited 1 month before calling the newspapers? Yeah, right!!!!!

I have four adult kids and if I wanted to sit in a pub with them here I should  As for leaving it to report until they arrived back in the UK that was probably sensible, the man is in his fifties for crissakes, not exactly a troublemaker at that age  Perhaps you can explain why 30 odd locals were already 'tooled' up when attack happened. Yeah right!!!

This was in Paphos, not Ayia Napa! I sit with my sons in pubs here and have not been attacked. Why does every one believe this bloke and his sons didn't do anything? The attackers just didn't like the look of him?

I don,t go to Napa in season its full of kids fighting ha ha!

Why do you believe it was provoked?

30-40 locals with the odd baseball bat x 4 or 5 tourists.

My brain gets me to unprovoked.

No problem, you believe what you like. Having re-read the article, which by the way says that local police were investigating, I stick to my original interpretation.

Dorset party attacked out on stag do
7:00am Friday 3rd July 2009

By Fiona Pendlebury »

A DORSET man has described how he was hit over the head with a baseball bat and beaten while out on a stag night in Cyprus.

Sales assistant Aaron Page, 27, of Brabourne Avenue, Ferndown, says he was in a group attacked by a group of 20 Cypriot men in Bar Street, Paphos.

Aaron was allegedly clubbed over the back of the head after attempting to calm down assailants who he says were attacking other members of his group.

He was in Cyprus with girlfriend Charlotte Wicks, 24, of Wimborne – who is a friend of the bride’s family – to attend the wedding of Samantha and Niki Goldner.

The evening started off well and the group, which also included members of the bride’s family – Simon Pierpoint, 45, a company director from Oswestry and his four sons, Jason, 24, Daniel, 22, Adam, 20 and Oliver, 18 – visited several bars dressed in Borat outfits, said Aaron.

Outside Flares in Bar Street, Aaron had just decided to call it a night when trouble kicked off at around 11.45pm.

He said: “Out of the corner of my eye I saw a guy throwing punches at one guy. I thought ‘I’m not getting involved with that’. I decided to walk away and then I saw somebody else coming in with a chair leg.

“I thought ‘This is getting way out of hand’. I stepped forward to the guys to ask them to stop. It was at that point that I was hit on the back of the head.

“I remember being in hospital in a wheelchair. I was in and out of consciousness and just remember snippets. What I remember most clearly is waking up in hospital next day with no mobile phone, no money and no contact details. It was like a nightmare.”

Aaron received two chipped front teeth, stitches to his lip and a damaged knee in the incident on Wednesday June 17.

Simon Pierpoint received a stab wound to the upper chest, a broken foot, broken hand, cuts and bruises.

His son Jason was stabbed in the side. Three more of Simon’s sons – Daniel, Adam and Oliver – were also injured.

Amazingly all the men managed to make it to the wedding on the Saturday.

“Everybody made it. Even Simon. It was just nice to see all the guys again,” said Aaron.

l Two Cypriot men aged 29 and 27 have since been charged with assault using a knife.

Is wearing a Borat costume provocation LOL! Maybe - but if the other guys had knives, we can assume they were not out for a coffee evening!

I have,nt a clue, but I would say that hospitals and stab wounds and being knocked unconscious by a large gang sounds fairly obvious.

Still what do you care if a few tourists get beaten up, they no doubt deserved it I suppose for being here, being loud, having a good time, dressing silly, can see that would get a few tourists needing a lesson in decorum by some.

I care for no-one at all who provocates violence. So I suppose large numbers carrying knives and weapons means something different to you

In most countries just being in possession of a knife can get you 5 years never mind using it, myself I think thats far too lenient

Sorry, I cannot agree. It sounds as though you are saying this family had no right to be in the pub in the first place!

It does not matter how 'p*ssed up' you are, you do not deserve to be attacked (here or anywhere else in the world!)

So Kafene, going by your highlights, do you interpret going out to have a good time on a 'stag night' in 'fancy dress' as 'you are looking for trouble'?

What is your take on the attackers and their 'costumes'? (i.e. their KNIVES?)

cbbb just because you sit in a pub and dont get attacked it doesnt mean it doesnt happen!
you need to ask yourself, if you wre to sit in a pub with your children and you wre all attacked what would you do? how or would you report it? would you be fearfull after? Andd would you have expected it to happen in the first place? and last but not least ask your self how awfull it would really be if it happened to you and your sons, and would you really believe this has happened to you afterwards? and also ask yourself what is the fateher to gain by making this up?
