thanks Raf...an excellent post...a lot of history there...and a lot that was purposely destroyed for ever...

I just want to know were they any tcs involved in this destruction or turks?

also a lot of those minarets were converted churches...the minarets look like after thoughts...

What some people fail to appreciate is, be they Christian or Muslim buildings, they are all the property of the RoC and the heritage of all present and future Cypriots.

No GC in his rightful mind would therefore wilfully damage any Mosques for they are ours and our future generations'. So, it hurts to see those foreign invaders (Turks and some TCs who want a new country within a country!) deliberately destroying public communal heritage.

Sad too to see the lack of respect for maintaining buildings in the historical context intended. But, it is a common practice of Muslims to victoriously add minarets to conquered Churches. Hopefully that archaic practice, unacceptable amongst civilised nations, will cease and we may look forward to the restoration of ancient "conquered" Churches.

It seems that it was not appreciated though. I didnt see any of our Tc friends commenting. I guess it's enough for them, or better say it suits them, to claim that all we do is propaganga.
This site is indeed nery informative especially to those who question the desctruction of our churches and accuse us of making just propaganda.
