Settlers in the new state: They will all become citizens

Postby Lit » Fri Jul 24, 2009 5:40 am

Nami revealed the stance of the Turkish side as regards the issue of the settlers in the new state: They will all become citizens

Under the title They will all become citizens, Turkish Cypriot daily Kibris newspaper (22.07.09) reports that Ozdil Nami, special adviser of the Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat on EU and UN issues, clarified the status of the Turkish origin citizens in the new state to be established. Mr Nami made these statements yesterday speaking on the daily Kibrista Bugun (Today in Cyprus) program of Serhat Incirli, on KIBRIS TV.

Mr Nami stated that they are ready to speed up the negotiations as from September and he revealed the stance of the Turkish side at the negotiations, as regards the issue of the settlers as follows: Our citizens are our citizens. With the establishment of the new state they will all stay here and will be citizens of the new state, he said.

As regards the issue of political equality, Mr Nami stated that the two sides came to an agreement and stated that as regards the Executive Power, the Turkish Cypriot side supports a model which resembles to the Swiss model and the Annan Plan. On its part, the Greek Cypriot side supports the current system which is in operation, that is, a strong Presidential System. He also stated that the Greek Cypriot side wants the elections of both the President and the Vice President to be made by the people. Mr Nami also stated that the Greek Cypriots support the rotating presidency and added that the Republic of Cyprus will continue to be member of the EU and the UN. As regards the international agreements of the occupation regime, they will be accepted by the new state.

Mr Nami said that even less land concessions, compared to the Annan Plan are being discussed in the negotiations. He reminded that investments were made in the areas that were to be returned in 2004. In 2004 we have given it to you, you should have taken it then, he said.

He went on and added that the Turkish side will not abandon Turkeys effective and actual guarantees and added that the differences between the two sides as regards the issue of guarantees and security are like the day and the night.

Finally Mr Nami stated that he is optimistic about the negotiations.

He obviously beleives that the G/Cs are ready to capitulate to Turkey's demands!!!
Having eliminated the T/Cs by grouping them with the settlers he will no doubt wish to do the same to the G/Cs, Greeks of Greece !!
He has another thing coming , the Cypriots are not ready to be exterminated .

Slow down with the negotiations, Mr Nami... you'll have a heart attack.

Mr Nami needs the help of a professional counsellor.

Transcript of Remarks by Special Representative of the Secretary-General Tayé-Brook Zerihoun following 23 July meeting
Good afternoon. The leaders started with the tête-à-tête accompanied by their representatives – it was a two hour tête-à-tête in which they told us they discussed recent developments. Developments since they last met. Then they came into the plenary and each read their opening statements on this issue of [aliens, immigration, asylum and citizenship] and had a preliminary exchange of views on it. They have now agreed to meet next week on the 30th to give a formal reply to each other\'s introductory statements. And they will meet again on 6th of August before they break up for the summer holidays. On Monday the representatives will meet to carry on a discussion of the implementation aspects of the agreement on Limnitis and that will include a briefing by us, by UNFICYP, by the UN Country Team here on what actions we have taken and what actions we contemplate to advance implementation of that agreement.

Question: You said they discussed recent developments. Did they offer any explanation of recent events?

Answer: Recent events broadly.

Question: Did they say anything about what kind of recent events?

Answer: I think, obviously, they discussed events that happened in the last week, memorials and celebrations that happened. That was the understanding I had.

Question: Did they start discussing settlers?

Answer: Well, the issue of aliens, immigration, asylum and citizenship was at the centre of their discussion, that is what I meant, and this discussion will continue next week. The presentation that was made was on aliens, asylum, immigration and citizenship and this discussion today was the preliminary statements of principle with some exchange, a first reaction to those statements, but they will both reply to the substance of the presentations next week.

Thank you
UNFICYP

Turkey brings in 500 000 (per VP) settlers and the GCs are expected, according to Nami, to accept them all as citizens in a state where the two communities are politically equal.

Those of you who are Cypriots in this forum, must be able to imagine the feeling of having a mainlander, of either mainland, as president. There is not need to talk to true Cypriots about that feeling, you all know what I mean. Nami not only wants this to happen, he wants to enshrine it in the island's constitution.

Now here is a chance to say a clear AISSIHTIR PEZEVENGHI. There are limits to politenes.

For t hose who are not versed in foreign languges here is an explanation

Pezevenghi is a pimp. Nami when he proposes legalisation of 500 000 settlers is pimping. He is pimping others' interests, anyone's interests but those of the Cypriots. Worse of all he is letting down the TCs who will be officially, finally and irrevocably be demoted to 4th class citizens if all settlers are legalised. The TCs will be a sad minority ranking after the GCs, Settlers, EU immigrants (their status is EU guranteed), other minorities (their status is guaranteed by special constitutional provisions). TCs will be overriden by the settler majority within the TC voting total and their interests will be ignored.

Re TCs, what will it take to make you wake up!!!!!

The regime in the north is suffering from a collective psychosis.

Can someone with some insight explain to me how Nami can want a speedy resolution at the same time as demonstrating total inflexibility on two matters of fundamental importance; namely, the settlers imported from Turkey and the continued guarantee of Turkey's army.

And then he caps it all by saying he is optimistic about the negotiations. He is displaying all the symptoms of a schizophrenic.

"A person diagnosed with schizophrenia may demonstrate auditory hallucinations, delusions, and disorganized and unusual thinking and speech; this may range from loss of train of thought and subject flow, with sentences only loosely connected in meaning, to incoherence, known as word salad, in severe cases. Social isolation commonly occurs for a variety of reasons."

settlers...

it wouldn't suprise me if not few would gladly accept a Statehood (Cyprus) for homes, instead of houses...

and it wouldn't surprise me that many of these will be, model citizens, Cypriots first.

planning and an open mind; Grace: the willingness to put blame aside and fix the Problem first.

there is no doubt that with this impasse we have proven that "Greeks" are equal to "Turks", but

as People, a People; this island's dwellers, we

fail to see what tragedy will unfold if in ignorance we forget Our humanity

this Principal. You know that turcophones were scattered like sand across a map of Cyprus

(so said TPap as a younger man): and then the counting of heads as though Cypriot was not enough

...so what, enclaves were in fashion then, just like Nationalism badly used; oops! and voila, dirty words.

(don't take it personally, politicians everywhere don't do that anymore)

but i say, please, read my manifesto...

sorry this Nami guy sounds like a Turkish general, you give less land than the annan plan? you won't have a deal, do you really want a deal? shame on you.
what the turks and the tc's want is to come up with some shitty plan that the gc's again cannot accept.

'we are almost there my brothers' said nami to his turkish nipple
'we'll make them pay for 2004' said the turkish nipple
'we're right behind you turkey' said milliband 'your oil pipeline is very interesting'
