Mr Ozgurgun met with the OIC General Secretary’s Assistant on Economic Matters Hamed Abajiye Opeloyeru who is in the Republic for Peace and Freedom Day celebrations.

For his part, OIC General Secretary’s Assistant on Economic Matters Hamed Abajiye Opeloyeru expressed his pleasure at meeting with the TRNC Foreign Ministers.

He said that he would be informing the OIC General Secretary Ekmelettin Ihsanoglu on the demands of the TRNC.

Has OIC forgiven Turkey for destroying the Caliphate ?

The Arabs and other Islamic states always hated The Ottomans for 'usurping' the Caliphate. They only paid the Sultan lip service to the Sultan when it suited them. It was Lawrence of Arabia and the Arab Nationalism which lost the Caliphate. With the loss of the Arabic speaking nations in the Otto Empire, there was nothing left to be the 'Khalif' over.

Mustafa Kemal just put the last nail into the coffin. Thats all.

Problem is the “TRNC” is not even recognized by the OIC, but classifies Turkish Cypriots under the “OIC Observer States, Communities, Organizations & Institutions” under the label… “Turkish Cypriot State”!

So how can a non-existent to the OIC entity make any demands?

Turkish Cypriot STATE

Go ahead, tell us how many countries recognise "trnc"?

C'mon, Deniz. That's "not all".

"The War of Independence was promoted as a Jihad in defense of the Caliphate and Muslim Unity, and against foreign Christian invaders. Kemal professed to be representing the interests of the sultan-caliph until he could be freed from foreign control."

"The Khalifat movement had made various interventions in support of Turkey, even organizing funds for Mustapha Kemal's war with the Greeks, and opposing Arab independence since they saw that such a development would weaken the Caliphate. Thus, when the news of abolition reached them the Khalifat committe of India was thunderstruck, their icon, the Khalifat, had been broken and their idol, Mustapha Kemal had been the iconoclast."

There's plenty more material in Google books along these lines.

Kemal used the money and blood of pious Moslems to destroy the Caliphate. If that is not backstabbing, then I don't know what is.

I said thats all, meaning thats all I am writing now. I know there was much more than that.

Still, bear in mind the half a million moslem Indians fighting on the allied side in Mesopotamia and elsewhere against the Ottomans.

The Arab revolt had no small part in this though. I am trying to find out exactly how many Arabs Cemal Pasha butchered in Damascus/Bagdad. Jihad my a---.The term waqs used to gain what little support they could get. The British held the trump card as the Colonising power over millions of Muslims.

“Turkish Cypriot State”! :? :? :? :? :?

I think the OIC needs to update their data since the "government" in the north claims that there are no more Turkish Cypriots in the north, but only "Turks in Cyprus". Looks like "Turks in Cyprus" will need to apply to the OIC to become a "observer state", again, before they can DEMAND to become a member.!
