It looks as if the Iraqi authorities have finally taken over security issues in Iraqi cities , according to a report in the Times.
American withdrawal is now an imminent reality , the question that remains is the ability of the Iraqi security forces to defend against insurgents and finally bring at least some peace and stability to this troubled nation. Lets hope that peace is given a chance and that the Iraqi people gather around their elected government and support the struggle to rid the country of insurgents.
Western style democracy will never take hold in this country or in other M.E nations but at least the seeds of democracy have begun to sprout.
