Should Britain return Gibraltar?

Postby Oracle » Tue Jul 21, 2009 8:29 pm

Why does Britain want to hang on to a rock that belongs to someone else? :?

Both NATO and EU partners, neither Britain nor Spain will renounce sovereignty over the Rock of Gibraltar.

Should Gibraltar be recognised as an Independent, Autonomous Rock, or should Britain give it back to Spain? :D

Here you are Palio

Gibraltar (pronounced /dʒɨˈbrɒltər/) is a self-governing British overseas territory located on the southern end of the Iberian Peninsula and Europe at the entrance of the Mediterranean overlooking the Strait of Gibraltar. The territory covers 6.843 square kilometres (2.642 sq mi) and shares a land border with Spain to the north. Gibraltar has historically been an important base for the British Armed Forces and is the site of a Royal Navy base.

The problem is purdey ... those liable to vote in a referendum are not natives but colonising, settler Brits ... So, they are bound to swing towards shared sovereignty with Britain.

Can we be grown up enough, rather more worldly-wise than the average European, and see the injustice of such an eventuality?

On second thought I have changed my mind. Surely if they live there and have adopted the way of life, then they have freedom of choice how to vote.
Why meddle in other peoples democracy.

Oh lovely!

You are so considerate Oracle!

Why don't you try and hold the same view regarding the Kosovo deal? ;)

That would be ever so beyond-the-average-European.

Or are you just going to mumble some hypocritical nonsense and sweep this one under the carpet?

Don't worry I wont tell no one, if you do
