Deniz is absolutely right to protest such bastards.

I met a number of turks that do not hold Ataturk in great esteem...they were even born in turkey...why would someone get offended is beyond me...

One of my customers, born in OZ, can't stand him...and yes he is not a mountain turk...

If a leader pleases some of the electorate, don't think for a minute everyone is gonna like him...or is this expected in turkey?

Atatürk reforms and struggle for independence caused a great deal of hate to arise amongst many groups in Turkey.

Mostly amongst the people who were against the idea of a single united Turkey, such as the minorities who were easily convinced and used to rise up by the Imperialists, in order to further push their divisive agendas, in order to make use of the opportunity that came from a newly collapsed Empire.

Also amongst the many Ottoman supporters who fought hard to get the Imperialist demands accepted and of course the radical Islamists who's lives had been turned up side down with the sudden change in lifestyle such as clothing, the end of the Caliphate and of course women rights, are just a few.

Not an easy job trying to modernize a nation that has been deep a sleep under the Ottoman/Islam opiate for centuries, with hardly any education, while trying to gain independence at the same time.

You are working against many odds and you are bound to make a lot of enemies.

I assure you the people you have met will definitely fall into one of these categories as no self-respecting educated Turk would hold such views, especially not when they are fully aware of what the alternative could have been.

I showed what everybody not blind knows about the mega-murderer Ataturk and Deniz reacted as if I was saying something bad about his mother! It is not healthy when you elevate such people to God status and then you are so religiously devoted to them you can't even see the truth!

And your minority was used by the imperialists to divide Cyprus. ;) Anyway this is not the Cyprus problem forum. Deniz, come back, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings by saying the truth about your mother ... I mean your father ... the father of all Turks

The only thing you showed was how illiterate, ignorant and idiotic you are.

You were clearly talking about something you have absolutely not idea about.

Plus you were very insulting and Deniz had every right to tell you to fuck off.

No one puts Atatürk in a "god-like" status, but if you are someone who knows jack shit about anything then it might seem so.

Well if it is not the Cyprus problem then stop adding more baseless remarks amongst your petty excuses.

If there was no hate within the GC community towards all minorities on the island, the Imperialist could no have exploited the situation, so well done with that one ;)

I think it's rather contradictory of Deniz, to aspire to be a Cypriot, yet revere this historical murderer, Ataturk, who invites comparisons to Hitler with his genocidal and expansionist deeds. Ataturk's 'Cult of Personality' must be the envy of Stalin ...

I think it’s dumb that we even mention Ataturk on this forum…he has nothing to do with Cyprus and the man has been dead and buried for almost a century!

Let it go people, it’s a waste of breath!
