A good day to reflect on what the "peace operation" has achieved for the Turkish Cypriots. An isolated, paranoid, depleted community. Pariah status amongst the international community. An economy in ruins and countless legal judgements against them. Sheltering in homes and land that doesn't belong to them, desperately clinging onto a meagre existence, dominated by settlers from Anatolia and subject to the harsh and corrupt rule of the Turkish military. No hope of recognition while also acting as a barrier to Turkey's European aspirations. Worst of all is the moral degradation of a community whose existence is built on displacement, theft, desecration, rape and murder.

And this is a day they choose to celebrate? How perverse. But really, how very sad and pathetic.
