NICOSIA - Diko veteran Nicos Moushouttas died yesterday aged 78 after a battle with cancer.

His funeral will take place tomorrow (Tuesday) at 4pm at St. Barbara's Church in Kaimakli.

He took part in the anti-colonial struggle and was arrested and imprisoned for thirty months.

In 1961 was appointed by Archbishop Makarios to help organise the NAtional Guard.


In June 1990 he was elected general secretary of the Democratic Party, in which position he served until 1993.

In the parliamentary elections of December 8th 1985 he was elected as member for DIKO in Nicosia
