How can I be sure? Because you say so? Because your press and politicians tell you?
Abbas said so
Show me his exact quote, then. Not what the press and politicians 'interpreted'... As we've discovered, they do a lot of interpreting for feeble minds. But I am interested in the facts. And I really wished you were too.
here you go thegreeksouthcypriot:
http://video.turk.net/video/izle/18657/ ... ---ANKARA/
starts at 5.45. You won't believe my translation so a Turkish speaking south cypriot like Kikapu can translate it to you. Have fun watching OUR brother Abbas.
Thanks... I'll await a translation of his exact words.
The whole thing is doctored and would never pass Kikapu's "smell test".!
First of all, this has to be the worse cut & sliced & paste video conference I have ever seen. The whole 7+ minutes is not one continues shooting of this conference. No, it has been sliced more than your average size cucumber for a "Greek Salad".!
Gül is doing most of the talking in Turkish, of course, which nothing is translated to Abbas in Arabic because the whole video has been sliced. In between sliced and cuts, few times, there is a very short and very faint voice in the background, which may be the translator's voice. Abbas then talks for a while without any translation into Turkish, but instead you have Gül talking again. Then out of nowhere, a question is asked to Abbas with a female voice regarding the Cyprus comments that Runaway is talking about, then the video cuts off and starts again with Abbas talking, which could have been about anything, because the video cut off after the "reporters" question. Abbas speaks in Arabic, so god knows what he said, then a man does the Turkish translation on what Abbas supposedly said, in which at one point he said that "it was not true". What was not true, no body knows, because he is not answering the female "reporters" question any longer, because we now have a new video scene, because it cut off after the question was asked. At one point I heard Abbas mentioning the name "Arafat" which makes me think the translation had nothing to do with the so called question. There are no other questions asked to Abbas to answer by anyone other than just one question on the Cyprus issue, which has to be very odd, don't you think.? Here is the interesting part. The sound quality is much better from the female "reporter" who asked the question and the man who translated what Abbas said than the quality of the sound at other times for the translator. To me, it had a sound-stage quality to it, and my guess is, this was dubbed into the video after the fact. The only way to know what was said by Abbas, is to get someone who understand Arabic, otherwise this can easily be a sliced and cut propaganda tape for the Turks in Turkey to swallow, like Runaway. The whole 7+ minutes is very poorly manipulated and badly molested.!

The Palestinian leader recently dominated the agenda in Turkey after reports circulated that he had made remarks supporting the Greek Cypriot side during a visit to the southern part of the divided island. The Turkish Foreign Ministry summoned the Palestinian envoy for further explanation. In reply to a question at the press conference, Abbas said the claims were baseless and fabricated.

Be hayvan …be eşek, why on earth would Palestinian leader Abbas –or any single other Palestinian on this planet for this matter- would possibly ever support the Turkish / TC thesis and positions on Cyprus? Is it because Palestinians evicted the Israelis from their ancestral lands, in order to establish a Palestinian state on Israeli soil, just like you try to do in Cyprus? Is it because Palestinians continue to usurp Israeli lands and properties, build on them and colonize them with Arabs and Palestinians from the neighboring Arab countries, just like you do in Cyprus against the Greek Cypriot community and our properties in the occupied north? Is it because both Turkey and Palestine enjoy the full financial, military and political backing of the US, against the cause of the Greek Cypriots and the poor Israelis? For what reason (tell me one) would any Palestinian support Turkey in Cyprus? Are they masochists, or what?
One of the reasons may be simply because south cypriots are gavurs eşşoğluuu.
Be yararsız …be hayırsız, don’t you know that the only reason your “TRNC” has not been recognized all these years by any Arab or any other Islamic country, neither by the IOC (Organization of the Islamic Conference,) is only because of the Palestinian and other Arab objections due to the clear similarities and parallelism they see or make between Turkey’s positions and acts in Cyprus, and those of Israel against the Palestinians?
After more than 20 years of rejection and absence, since 1983, you managed to only get the status of a non-voting observant in the IOC, and this only after Turkey attained the presidency of the organization, and you now tell me that Palestinians support your cause in Cyprus! For what reason? On what merits or basis?
Be hayvan …wake up!
hayvan! Abbas said he didn't back south cypriots on CYP issue. End of discussion.

End of discussion? Your conclusion flies in the face of logic, the video evidence (which I watched, clumsy cuts at the vital moment and all), and the interpretation of a Turkish speaker who refuses to be sucked in by your regime's ridiculous propaganda machine.
runaway wrote:
I told you. The interpretation was from a south cypriot who speaks Turkish. By the way, can you find me the video for the thread "Abbas backs Greek side on CYP issue"? Because Mr.Abbas says said he didn't say such a thing.

He clearly says he didn't support south cypriot case. What else do you want me to say? Your analysis is biased against TC view as always. I shoudn't have asked for a translation from a south cypriot.
