A lovely morning in the Lake District CBBB. Nice paddle on the estuary, birds singing, sun glinting off the water. Just going to mow the green grass and de-weed the garden.

Why is the Lake District so called? Shouldn't it be Mere Distict?

I always thought a Mere was a shallow piece of water. Food for thought though Bill.
Off to pick up my new motor now, may have a trundle around Coniston if the weather holds.

For the benefit of others .... There is ( I think) only one body of water in the LD refered to as a "lake" in its title, all the rest contain the word "mere".

Have I got it right P?
