I have recently returned (May 25th) from the island of Tenerife where I had been for the last few months (since Christmas in fact) during which time I visited the museum in Santa Cruz where stands a rather famous cannon affectionately named 'El Tigre'.
This artillery piece is accredited with having taken off the arm of 'Lord Horatio Nelson' at the battle of Santa Cruz when the English attempted to claim (yet another island) Tenerife as their own.
I mention this incident particularly since it would appear that on Sunday, under the watchful eye of 'Horatio' in Trafalgar Square, certain individuals are intent upon marching in the vain hope that such action will in some way influence the outcome of talks relating to Cyprus.
Very few of those who undertake the task of demonstrating will be aware of the fact that, be they GC or TC, the PC Brigade will be at the ready to ensure that the 'Protest' (if such action be worthy of such title) will be conducted in a peaceful manner, quite obvious really since the UK has introduced laws to forbid any other formulation of public discontent.
Downing Street has been barricaded for some time now, the occupants of No 10 probably fearful that there may be a 'Guy Fawkes' in the vicinity .
Which is precisely why the general public are generally treated like 'SHIT' (this is where the WC comes to the fore) by the unscrupulous C's that are in control of the PC's who in turn control the protesters.
And where does 'Horatio' fit in with the above ?, well, old 'Hawk Eye' has been honoured for the services he rendered to his country, the fact that he was engaged in the persecution and destruction of other nations at the behest of his own (similar to what is happening/has happened now and in the past) is nicely presented in the history books as 'Bravery'.
Upon his death, it is said that his last words were "Kismet Hardy" when in fact they were "Kiss me Hardy" since our Horatio's sexual preferences were frowned upon in those times and the historians managed to cover the fact by such verbal deception (with full approval of the C's in power of course).
Thus, atop a column, used as a WC by the local pigeons, Horatio gazes down through his one good eye at those fools below who consider their stupid protest to be of some value in influencing the C's who treat them like 'SHIT' whilst pretending to represent them
Maybe they have forgotten the 'Miner's Strike' or the rallies of countless thousands who objected to the intended slaughter in Iraq BEFORE a shot was fired.
Here's hoping the weather stays fine for them.
