I think Vi$ta is fine too - but it does gobble outrageous amounts of resource just to exist...

Mind you, I have a 800MHz P3 next to my desk... It arrived from HP with NT installed on it. When XP came out I upgraded and thought it was the most amazing system - I remember thinking that it would be the last PC I would ever need to buy!

Now that same system (even after upgrading the memory from 128Mbytes to 512Mbytes) won't even run XP!

Something has gone dreadfully wrong...

Truth is, if it were not for the tolerant and daring youth we'd still be using DOS 4.1 with which we were very happy... :D

But I suspect that a couple of decades from now you'll be arguing with the young ones that Vista was so great and stable and that a move to Windows 23 is unnecessary!

The older you get the greater your resistance to change.

CP/M. I remember it well!!! Using 8" floppy's that could hold 360K, those were the good old days!

I will do my best to avoid it for as long as it is possible.

In fact I am so happy with XP that I will probably skip Vista all together and either use Windows 7 or wait for whatever might come next.

Vista was clearly a big mistake as it survived for such a little amount of time, I hope Windows 7 does not share the same fate.

I’m a tad ashamed to admit that I still keep a copy of my Autoexec.bat file in case we need to go back… :?
