Moving to Cyprus...

Postby captaintile » Thu Jul 16, 2009 5:29 pm

Hello everyone,

I wondered if you'd be kind enough to give me some honest advice...

I'd like to move to Cyprus next year with my wife and our baby which is due in November.

My Dad & his wife already live out there so I've been over a few times on a holiday and know the area fairly well.
However, they are of retirement age and were 29/31 so wondered if they're are many young families who relocate?

My Dad live in Paralmni so we'll move around that area, probably for 6-12 month initially.

My wife's more reluctant than me as she'll be home with the baby while I work so has anyone been in our situation and how did they find it?

Your feedback is appreciated,

Mark

PS
Also, if anyone knows of a two bed place to rent for 6 months+ early next year, let me know.

Hi,

I'm from Essex. I was the head of temporary recruitment for Ford of Britain but when they got rid of all their temps I was out of a job.

I decided to re-train so did a 6 week Tiling course and got my City & Guilds but that has been totally dead.

When I come over I'll work with my Dad who has a pool cleaning business - www.perfectpools.co.uk (shameless plug I know!?)
Maybe they'll be some tiling work(?) or some office work as I'm trying to learn Greek.

Hi Mark

I could watch that video all day!

Things are very tough over in the UK aren't they. So many industries suffering it's all gone Pete Tong.

You are lucky to be in a position to be able to step into a job but I would still work out your finances as rent/bills/electricity etc can be quiet expensive in Cyprus, compared to your salary.

Can you recommend some lettings agencies so I can look at their website and see what I can get for my money?
Doubt my Dad would put up with a screaming baby for too long?!

Thanks
