Sorry to be so blunt...

But the number of people attending is hardly impressive is it?Let's be honest, have any of these rallies ever achieved anything?Even in Cyprus they stopped having them years ago after people stopped bothering to attend them. And people in Britain, including many of the Cypriots who live there have far more serious isues to worry about, especially this year with the recession etc.It is also sad that more Cypriots overseas seem to care about a solution than most of them here..this is the land of cabarets, kebabs, fat stomachs, property scams and police corruption,in no particular order!

Depressing, isn't it? I think I'm going to pop over to Cyprus soon so I can dull the pain... by stuffing my fat stomach with a large pork souvlaki, visiting a few cabarets afterwards with a police friend of mine from Leopetri - before slipping him a few Euros so he turns a blind eye to me scamming a gullible asprogolo looking to buy the horafkia I inherited from my bapu.

CYPRIOTS LONDON ANNIVERSARIES

British Cypriots and politicians from across Britains political spectrum on Monday condemned Turkeys intransigence over efforts to end its continuing illegal military occupation of the northern part of Cyprus.

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown was petitioned by the National Federation of Cypriots in the UK to use the UKs influence over the Turkish Government in order to persuade Turkey to withdraw its occupation troops and play an active and positive role in current efforts to reunite Cyprus for the benefit of all Cypriots.

A demonstration outside the Turkish Embassy in London and the delivery of a letter of protest to the Turkish Ambassador was followed by a march through central London, the delivery of the petition in Downing Street and a mass rally in Trafalgar Square.

Many UK Cypriots who do not attend the annual March use the flimsy excuse " what can we achieve by Marching"
I have heard this so many times and it does annoy me .
The march is to protest at the continued occupation of a part of the RoC by Turkey. We do not just give up because we feel that our protests are in vain .

Maybe it's because our greatest ally is being insulted by the likes of you!

I know some Greeks who are still taunted as Kalamarades; and even till the last minute you were hurling abuse at anyone intending to fly their own country's flag in support.

You can't have it both ways Miltiades! Wanting support and a voice for Cyprus and then ridiculing and blaming those who would support Cyprus!

Wake up ... you have nothing but 60 Million Turks speaking for Cyprus and that is not in its favour!

I also blame those who think all we need are the TCs to help us out of this mess! The TCs are working in unison with the Turks, for their own independence ... and they have left us far behind!
