Turkey has a vast army with huge reserves and continually adds to its arsenal of weapons. The RoC must never consider war as an option in removing the occupiers from the lands of Cyprus but it has a duty to its citizens to protect them against any foreign aggression.

I thought that the EU was the protector of Southern Cyprus, or are they planning on going on the offensive??

that's what has been asked to EU and others representatives today by our government . We , the Turkish Cypriots have rights to ask this questions .... what for those guns ...... The ROC has every right to protect itself, its land is illegaly occuppied by a foreign nation. Every day threats are made against the RoC for its territorial intergrity, on land, air and sea. If the Turk cyps official is complaining then he should complain against Turkey for illegally occuppying his country.

Today the politics are as far apart from those of the past as is the moon from earth.
The whole world is in agreement with the EU which clearly states that the north part of Cyprus is an integral part of the RoC , OF WHICH YOU AND I ARE CITIZENS , a part of Cyprus however that it can not exercise its authority in view of it being under the occupation of Turkey.
You are aware that I consider each single inch of Cyprus to be the rightful property of all Cypriots but most certainly not the property of a foreign nation.
No G/C politician would be permitted by the public to make demands that are detrimental to the interests of the indigenous to Cyprus T/Cs . Continuing with the saga of a separate nation within a nation is not and never has it been conducive to the efforts to arrive at a just solution.
The RoC is not without blemishes , I have critisized much about its actions over the years but would endorse totaly its commitment to maintaining a well equiped army .

Miltiades ....

to prove it to me .... GC leadership have to show me with positive actions not buying guns . Soon frame of their works will come for knowledge of our people . How they can explain us .How they can explain to Turkish Cypriots . These guns are not for u .

Miltiades i am everyday with my people i know how they feel . I know how they feels about Turkish army .Tomorrow will be 15 July again .lots of programs on the tv's in these days . It shows clearly how the Turkish Cypriots are thinking about Turkish army and If there was no operation what will happen them ... these are not my make ups Miltiades .
Especially they choose right times to buy Russian second hand tanks ....

If the GC's leadership politics are as far apart from those of the past as is the moon from earth. as u are saying .... they are playing Miltiades .

Those weapons are for all Cypriots to use against all invaders in the future if needed after unification. The question is Halil, will you help your fellow Cypriots to defend Cyprus or will you have a conflict of interest depending who the invader might be. If the answer is a resounding YES, that you will have a conflict of interest, then you are not ready to be a Cypriot yet in a unified Cyprus, in which case, you should worry about those weapons.!

The T/Cs are as much Cypriots with as much right to call Cyprus their own as the G/Cs .
The extremists must never be allowed to dictate and make policy decisions as in the past.
We are a part of Europe now , all Cypriot citizens are Europeans . Together we must resist the occupation of a part of our island by a foreign power in a peaceful way whilst remaining alert at the prospect of further unwarranted intervention by the occupiers.
Cyprus will continue being Cyprus and will NEVER be Greek or Turkish Cyprus , how dare they impose upon us Cypriots their brand of ideology which denigrates with indignity the very fibre of our Cypriot identity.
I'm not a GREEK , the Greeks belong to Greece just as the Turks belong to Turkey , I'm a Cypriot who stands up and defends his birthright and that of his ancestors , the right to be a Cypriot.

Shame on you Halil, you have failed the Kikapu test of "How Cypriot are you?"
I wouldn't worry about any weapons GCs buy. They will never be used. Total waste of money.

But they have the power to call it MORE as theirs than GCs do, since they can override the RoC ... something no GC would do!

Are you referring to Makarios?
