Younger members may not appreciate just how close we were to nuclear war and yet Big Mak continued to send out the wrong signals with the non-aligned nonsence.
1963 was a time to declare unity with the West, not sit on the fence and it took years for CY to shake off the stigma.

V. wise words, Bill. Talking of signals, I'd also have given up the archbishopric, shaved, donned a suit and focused on being a President for all the island's people. It's what Jesus would have wanted, I think.
