No Smoking Ban .....Now Official in Cyprus

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

I hope that this does come into fruition, but watching so many 'ignorant' (and by this I mean their 'don't care' attitude regarding others - especially in 'no-smoking' areas in pubs and restaurants!) smokers of all nationalities on this island, I am doubtful. :(

Is a very correct regulation and can work everywhere even in Bouzoukia places if government insist.
note: i a a very heavy smoker but i consider such regulations the only way for me to get 1-2 years more healthy life

Is my memory playing tricks on me? I am sure that around 1989 it was unlawful to smoke in some areas which included taxis and night clubs. Did not last though.

FWIIW I think it is a stupid and unreasonable law…

The smoking ban in the UK is outrageous – a legally available product has been banned in all public places by virtue of making smoking ‘abnormal’ with ridiculous advertising campaigns and ‘statistics’ backed often by little or no science… Now pubs are closing in their hundreds…

Now they want to ban ‘third hand smoke’ and stop smokers (not smoking) entering hospitals because the smoke on their clothing could do harm to patients – utterly ridiculous and based on no science whatsoever. Meanwhile patients die in filthy wards from preventable illnesses caused by lacklustre cleanliness programmes.

What would have been reasonable is to offer people a choice. Make pubs smoking or non smoking and let customers decide. Make non-smoking areas in pubs and restaurants which are properly segregated from smokers and have effective ventilation systems…

Everybody applauding the smoking ban will be sorry when restrictions on alcohol and food intake are introduced as a result of the righteous’ ‘victory’ over smokers… You may laugh but it has already started in the UK with statistics ‘adjusted’ to show a 40% increase in people drinking over the ‘approved’ number of units per week by simply changing the number of ‘units’ they count in each drink. In fact, alcohol consumption is actually falling…

Remember how we applauded when motorcyclists were forced to wear crash helmets? Once the righteous had won that victory car drivers were forced to wear seat belts… then passengers… then anybody doing ½mph over the speed limit was criminalised now anybody drinking any alcohol whatsoever…

It is never ending – once you allow these people to control your lived they will never stop.

BTW, in case anybody is wondering I don’t smoke and have never smoked…

@ Milti and Bubbles,I believe the same goes for alcohol consumption as well. A filthy discusting habit which kills the users and other innocent people around them and ruins many families.
