Should we continue with compulsory National Guard service?

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

The trouble is, in the UK the yobs on the streets that causeall the trouble are so thick they wouldn't know which end of a rifle the bullet came out of.

They would spend all their service life under lock and key which is where they should be in civilian life but for a few goody goody MPs and other misinformed prats in their government

If they don't know one end of a rifle from the other, it would just help prove Darwinism!

 What a deranged and damaging parent she must be... I’ll bet the son has turned out a total faggot!

There's nothing wrong with obtaining life skills; especially ones which leave you prepared to face up to the very real threat of Turks trying to kill us again!

One look at that flag in Nicosia and I realised I would have no say in my son's decision to serve the RoC for freedom.

Personally, I wouldn't mind receiving some training at the same time if it meant I too could have a gun to defend myself and my relatives.

Having said that, it's on the strict understanding that we negotiate the warmonger Turks off our island.

(I do sympathise with this poor woman though ...who knows what she has been through and suffered with the Turks' menacing presence!)

I am coming to the end of my service in the next few months. I have just spent a weeks training with the FFL in Morocco, which was fantastic.
I was then shipped out somewhere less friendly, I would not wish any young person to have to follow suit.

a third of our island is under occupation and our population is very small. We need an army and it can not be optional. Being citizen means you have rights but you also have liabilities. This is one liability every man has! What I think should be done is to upgrade the army and make it more useful for Cyprus and for the soldiers. The way our army is now it is not very organized and it is a waste of time for most soldiers! Put high tech infrared cameras on the green line and release soldiers from all the stupid tasks. All the soldiers should do is high quality training!

and how long would it take the turks to kill every one of the 5 army men we have in the south? it would be suicide if we ever went to war with any country.
