Now the borders are open, and people are freely and happily travelling to the north and south, do you think in some years to come Cyprus will finally re-unite as one?

I don't think so there is simply too much gap between parties...

Leon imo there should not be a possibly people will opt for a safe bet and we will not get a real picture.

Prendergast's report to the UN Sec Gen puts it pretty clearly: No solution, not even talks in the forseeable future. So, by the time the TRNC's new hotels are built to handle the direct flights carrying a million tourists a year and the TC average wage is upto the south's level, all this will be irrelevant. By the time a new breed of politician is in power in the south there will be nothing to negotiate about.

If this is the attitude you are suggesting to prevail within and among the TC community, then chances are the hotels under construction that you are talking about, most likely will stay there empty.

On direct flights:

I heard whispers that direct flights would happen at about the same time as Turkey allows the RoC to use its ports. Something about Greek Cypriots wanting to take part in the shipping of the newly piped oil at Ceyhan... could all be baseless though...
