MORE STATUES OF ATATURK TO PULL DOWN ONCE WE RETURN

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Lit » Wed Jul 15, 2009 4:28 am

A statue of Kemal Ataturk, resembling the Ottoman Sultans was placed at the Ayios Dometios roundabout
Turkish Cypriot daily Afrika newspaper (14.07.09) reports in its first page that a statue of Kemal Ataturk, having a sword in his hand like the Ottoman Sultans, was placed yesterday at a the Ayios Dometios roundabout. According to the paper, the statue resembles the Lawmaker Sultan Suleyman at the Mohac pitched battle. The paper also notes that the statue will be the first thing that the persons who are coming from the free areas of the Republic will face as soon as they cross into the occupied areas from the Ayios Dometios crossing point.

Hey, Lala Mustafa Pasha, what happened in Cyprus? Can you hear me? :?

Yes death sometimes is an 'escape clause' on account of certain generational-accepted norms, or contexts, being put behind us; and we progress on to a new state of civilisation and agreed norms.

However, the Turks are stuck in the mindset of: once invaders, Huns, Pashas, Kemalists, then this has to be perpetuated infinitely, never changing ... And hence, this is why the Turks are, rightfully still, defined as uncivilised ....

The statue probably depicts Mustafa Kemal at the beginning of the Sakarya Battle, when he saved Anatolia. What has it got to do with Cyprus? He was a 'Great' soldier as far as Turkey is concerned, but for Cyprus? He 'gave' it away.

This statue, just like the mountain grafitti is designed to be a nuisance and 'irritant' to the Greek Cypriots. Yet they have the Chutzpah to sit at a negotiating table. Ofcourse the RoC also has its 'irritations' and 'nuisances' like the various embargoes so I cannot see how either side want a 'peaceful negiated' re-unification. What a load of ..................

There are portraits and statues in Turkey depicting stages of the great mans military life. My fav one was the one at Cannakkale with a fag in his hand close to his mouthwhile on duty collecting the dead on the battlefield. He had volunteered for that duty, so he could study the enemy formations and trenches. The scene was described by CW Bean in his history of the ANZACS Dardanelles Campaign.

Its the same one as the cut out on the Nicosia/Kyrenia road.

I suggest that Tallat replace all Attaturk's status with these of Grivas and Makarios. This will be a strong sign to the G/cs and EU that the solution is near and always before Dec09 which is what Turks generally asking this period.

..And on the other side , we may build some status of Denktash!!

No Thanks, Epsilom. But you can have Denktashes statues if you like. It'll go very well with the rest of the murderers.
