Can anyone recall other stautes etc?
And no, Makarios and Grivas are not mainland Greeks, one was born in Panayia Paphou and the other in Trikomo. Before anyone starts that rant.....
How about this one?
According to Rebecca Bryant in “Imagining the Modern: The Cultures of Nationalism in Cyprus” there is a bust in the ‘main square of Nicosia’ (Eleftherias?) of a certain Nikolaos Katalanos, whom she says came from Greece into exile in Cyprus and was the first person to try to rally Greek-speaking Cypriots to the cause of Hellenic nationalism.
