Dear Arslanian,

Be careful if you are planning to do your national services, as you do have to take a medical exam and they do check your bottom (A hole) for any irregularities.

As regards what is considered gay in Cyprus, basically if you are the giver and not the taker, you are not gay. Actually if you are the giver, you are the village hero.

Did you go to the army? Did they check your "bottom"? They didn't check mine neither the 100s of other guys we were having a medical exam together that day. I think this is just an urban myth!

I did my national serrvice in 1982, we were lined up only in our underware, told to take hold of our balls and asked if any one had more or less than two balls. We were then asked to lower our underware and bend over, the doctor then pass behind us checking everyone.

I don't know when you guys did the national service, but this was my case.

Glad to say I passed.
