undemocratic dictatorial states tend to do that to their own people. Chine in Tibet and Xinjiang, Iran just recently, Russia to the Chechens.

Please condemn it for what it is. Unless you consider it acceptable because the victims are Turkic?

PS why is this in Cyprus Problem?

I think this thread is meant to be taken with a pinch of salt.

awe you left out turkey, kurds (mountain turks), maybe these are mountain chinese...

a little rich not considering the refugees in cyprus with your condemnation above...

and yes a human life is worth one helluva and demands respect...

I do not agree with these dictatorial states and the treatments the dish out to their own citizens...

I condemn any action that costs a life just as the same I condemn ethnic cleansing from one state to another, being greek, cypriot, turkish, etc...

yes, I do condemn Turkey's action towards the Kurds and in Cyprus and the action or inaction of the RoC towards the TCs in the 60's and 70s. Many countries have acted in this manner in the past but admit it and move forward as a the start of the healing process. Most TCs I know admit the pain suffered by the GCs in 74 how many GCs admit the same for the TCs in the 10 prior?

In know and agree that many Cypriots acknowledge the pain suffered by both communities - it is the official recognition that matters, see the outrage from some political parties, the Church and even teacher unions (I thought teacher unions were left wing!) regarding the idea of changing the History books.

The Cyprus problem is about trust, can the GCs trust the TCs not to form together and declare Taksim? and can the TCs feel safe enough not to have to declare Taksim?

A good example of this from the current negotiations, as I understand it, is the make up of a future Constitutional Court, the TCs want 1 independent foreign judge, the GCs want equal number of GC and TC judges - the problem the TCs have with this is if a GC dominated Govt. were to enact laws that were bias towards TCs and the judges were to vote along ethnic lines the Court in the GC preferred structure would not be able to strike down the said law.

"A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine." Thomas Jefferson.
